Byron Host serves the ShireLatest addition to Mullum's Clic Business Village, Byron Host, last week tore a hole through the very fabric of the Universe, simultaneously fracturing the space-time continuum and opening a virtual bridge between Byron Shire and the rest of the world.

Seizing upon the opportunity, enterprising brothers and Byron Host founders Ryder Saint and Obi McDonald-Saint divided the newly discovered cyber space into smaller parcels, each perfect in size to build a website on, and made them available for purchase to the local community.

Mr McDonald-Saint, Byron Host's general manager, said each cyberspace lot was suitable for the first-time website owner or builder, and featured stunning views of the internet, regular maintenance and local support for local people.

"We offer a simple, jargon-free service designed for customers who have little to no experience with the internet or how to use it", Mr McDonald-Saint said.

"Our web space is available to everyone, but the particular demographic we market to is our mums and dads, the 40 to 60 year olds of the community, who we affectionately refer to as the 'Eldernet'.

"Not only is this generation the dominant demographic in the Shire but also they have been generally outpaced by the Internet's rapid evolution and often require a helping hand to catch up."

Technology manager Mr Saint said the internet is developing at such a pace that it's difficult for even the more advanced user to keep up, let alone someone who is completely new to the web.

"From auctions to online banking and social networking, there are dozens of online services ideally suited to members of the Eldernet, it's a matter of breaking down this generation's technological barriers in order to help them make the most of the internet," Mr Saint said.

"We believe in thinking globally and acting locally."

With a combined IT career spanning twenty years, Mr Saint boasts a network engineering and computer hardware background, most notably with CitiBank Japan, while Mr McDonald-Saint's experience comprises web design and development, and includes work with London's MTV and Discovery Channel.

Quick to gobble up their individual patches of cyber real estate, local personalities Claire Yerbury of Tapestry String Trio (www.tapestrystringtrio.com) and cartoonist Brendan Lovechild (www.brendanlovechild.com) renovated and relocated their websites to take advantage of Byron Host's service.

"Byron Host were fast, efficient and extremely knowledgeable in all areas of our web design and set up. They were always prompt, extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with." Ms Yerbury said.

"In the past I've had all sorts of web designers and hosts promising miracles but none had delivered... until now. Byron Host knew exactly what they were doing and I'd happily recommend them to anyone who wants friendly, professional service at a competitive price," Mr Lovechild said.

As well as web space, Byron Host offers website design and building services, to help customers make the most of their web presence, as well as business branding and domain registration.
